A band of tissue in the eyes holds back fatty deposits. Over time, this band loosens, allowing fat to slide forward and stretch the skin. The result:

The Procedure

Blepharoplasty is performed with precision and an artistic eye:

1. Anesthesia — Most patients receive local anesthesia with sedation for maximum comfort during the 1-2 hour procedure.

2. Incisions — For upper eyelids, incisions are made in the natural crease. For lower eyelids, incisions are placed just beneath the lash line. These locations ensure virtually invisible scarring.

3. Tissue Removal — Excess skin and protruding fat are carefully removed. Muscles may be tightened if needed.

4. Closure — Fine sutures close the incisions, ensuring minimal scarring.

Recovery

One of the most appealing aspects of blepharoplasty is the rapid recovery:

• Days 1-2: Rest with your head elevated. Cold compresses help minimize swelling. Some bruising is normal.

• Days 3-5: Stitches are removed. Many patients feel comfortable returning to work with light makeup to camouflage any remaining bruising.

• Week 1-2: Swelling continues to decrease. You may resume normal activities, including light exercise.

• Month 1-3: Final results become visible as all swelling resolves and tissues settle.
